Brick Fences/Retaining Walls Combined
It’s very common for a brick fence to also act as a retaining wall for properties above or below street level, or to create planter boxes or level spaces in the garden for lawns. When this is the case it is very important to consider the design. Generally, if a brick fence is retaining more than 600mm it is good practice to incorporate a concrete block retaining wall to deal with the lateral forces and install ag lines to move water away. This can all be done without compromising the look of the brick fence by adding a facade of bricks in front of the blocks.
Below is an example of a brick fence we built in Maroubra which has a concrete block retaining wall behind it.
My mum had a brilliant experience with the workmanship in building the front brick fence for her house. Paul was able to source very similar colour bricks and curve shapes (bullnose bricks) to make the fence blend in to the current art deco style home. Paul was on time and comes strongly recommended for anyone wanting to build or redo their fence.

We had a fantastic experience with Paul and Ace of Blades on a large wall fronting our apartment building. The wall itself needed to match the early art deco building, so was not a straightforward job, but Paul dealt with planning delays, difficult access and multiple neighbours and tenants with calm and professionalism. He easily incorporated a late design change by us, even though it made his job more difficult. And his work, and that of his subcontractors, was consistently high quality. The wall looks beautiful, and has added greatly to the curb appeal and value of our building. Awesome job.

Paul & his team did a fantastic job adding blockwork to & rendering our old pebblecrete front fence as well as fixing it after it was then swiped by a truck (fun times).

Quoted a ridiculous price to build a front fence over the phone. About 6 times more than the going rate. Obviously won't be using.

Paul was extremely supportive and patient in assisting our strata block navigate the long difficult journey of council approval for a heritage building retaining wall and fence. Paul was responsive and provided ideas on design and product samples. He also liaised with the certifier and went over and above to ensure everything was in order. The final wall and fence look fantastic and we are very happy. I’d highly recommend Paul and Ace of Blades!

Paul built a retaining wall for us at the front of our property and he was outstanding. He was always on time and his work was of the highest quality. Nothing was ever too much and he was always open to discussing design to provide the best outcome
